Product: HDX18 Notebook
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am not sure if the battery is bad, but it not charging --- this older laptop is connected to AC power by the docking station ---  does that in any way  bypass the charging of the  battery?   Thanks

Hello @fpefpe .
If the battery is more than a year old, it is probably already worn out to the point of only holding little or no power, so you should replace it.

@fpefpe .

You can perform a hardware scan with the Hp diagnostic tool so that you can check the battery for damage.

Thanks for the info ---- I follow the  link and ran the battery test --- and it said that there was no battery !!! ---- As noted  since this laptop is 10+ years old,   getting  hp branded battery is sometime tricky and costly, so  I been using "after-market" batteries --  it is almost link the ink  for the inkjet printer --- my guess is that the hp battery is branded  so that these other batteries are not detected --- would you know if that is the case?
