Hi @joelmiles,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing issues with your HP ENVY 15-U010dx X360 Convertible PC not charging its battery, there could be several potential causes.

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take:

Check the Power Adapter and Connections:

  • Ensure that the power adapter is plugged in properly to both the laptop and the power outlet.
  • Inspect the power adapter for any signs of damage, such as frayed cables or broken connectors. If you find any damage, consider replacing the adapter.
  • Try using a different power outlet to rule out the possibility of a faulty outlet.

Inspect the Battery and Charging Port:

  • Check the battery compartment for any visible signs of damage or corrosion. If you notice any, it might indicate a problem with the battery itself.
  • Clean the battery contacts and the charging port on the laptop with a dry, soft brush to remove any dust or debris that may be interfering with the connection.

Restart Your Laptop:

  • Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve charging issues caused by software glitches or driver conflicts. Restart your laptop and see if the issue persists.

Update Device Drivers:

  • Ensure that all device drivers, especially those related to power management and battery charging, are up to date. You can do this through the Device Manager in Windows.
  • Visit the HP website and download the latest drivers for your laptop model.

Check Power Settings:

  • Make sure that the power settings in Windows are configured correctly. Sometimes, settings related to battery conservation or power management can interfere with charging.
  • Navigate to Settings > System > Power & Sleep and adjust the power settings as needed.

Run HP Support Assistant:

  • HP laptops often come with a utility called HP Support Assistant, which can diagnose and resolve various hardware issues. Run the HP Support Assistant and see if it detects any problems related to the battery or charging system.

Perform a Battery Calibration:

  • If your laptop's battery calibration is showing "NOT AVAILIBLE," it might indicate that the battery calibration needs to be reset. Follow the instructions provided by HP for calibrating the battery.

I hope this helps.
