Hi @prabhudeva

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how worrying it feels when your laptop refuses to charge, especially after you’ve already checked the basics. Thank you for taking the time to look into it—it shows real care and persistence.

Let’s go through a few focused steps to help isolate the cause and get your battery charging again:

Steps to try

Check the power source and adapter

  • Plug the adapter directly into a wall outlet, avoiding surge protectors or extension cords.
  • Inspect the adapter and cable for any damage or loose connections.

Perform a power reset

  • Turn off the laptop and disconnect the AC adapter.
  • If the battery is removable, take it out.
  • Hold the power button for 15 seconds to discharge residual power.
  • Reinsert the battery, reconnect the adapter, and power on.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

Check battery status in Windows

  • Right-click the battery icon in the taskbar → Power & sleep settings.
  • Under Battery usage, confirm if Windows detects the battery and shows charging when plugged in.

Update BIOS and drivers

  • Visit HP’s driver page: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers
  • Enter your laptop’s product number and install the latest BIOS and chipset drivers.
  • These updates improve power management and charging compatibility.

You’ve already shown great care in troubleshooting. These steps will help confirm whether the issue is with the battery, adapter, or system settings.
