Hi @liebil,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check the charger.
- Try another compatible HP charger, if you have access to one, to see if the laptop powers on. This will help determine if the charger is the issue.
Battery Inspection:
- If the laptop doesn't turn on even with a different charger, the issue might be the battery. Perform the following quick checks:
- Examine the charger port and connector for any obvious damage.
- Disconnect the charger and remove the battery (if possible), then plug the charger directly into the laptop. If the laptop powers on without the battery, the battery needs replacing.
Inspect Indicator Lights:
- Some laptops have charging indicator lights. Check for any responses from these lights when the charger is connected.
I hope this helps.

Hello, thank you for your quick and helpful reply.
Unfortunately, I don't have another compatible charger on hand so I wasn't able to check that.
When I do have the laptop plugged in, there is no light that appears when connected to the laptop to indicate it's charging status. And when I switch the power button on the laptop doesn't switch on.
Also, I've had the laptop since 2019 so it's 6 years old. Is 6 years old for a laptop old or should the laptop still work fine?

Hi @liebil,
Given the age of your HP Envy 15-cp0599na (around 5–6 years), it's not uncommon for either the battery or the charger (or sometimes both) to fail by now. Laptop batteries generally last about 2–4 years under regular use, so a replacement is quite normal at this point.
