I puchased a notebook HP Pavilion 15-au013nl few days ago, and I wish to know how to manage the battery : as I use it mostly at home, should I always keep the charger attached, or use my notebook without charging it until the battery is discharged ? Thank you.

You are a valued HP customer and we appreciate you greatly for doing business with HP. I have reviewed the situation and it is paramount that we address your issue. Thank you for giving us the privilege to assist you on this platform. 🙂 Excellent research , brilliant troubleshooting and diagnosis were done before posting your query. Kudos to you for that. 🙂
Please remember these points.
- When the computer is plugged in and the being used on AC power there is no cause for concern.
- But when you use the unit on battery standby please ensure to drain the battery down to lower than 15% before connecting it to the charger again for it to charge. Always ensure that the battery charges completely before using it on standby.
- The battery has a standard life cycle of a standard number of charges and discharges.
- With each charge and discharge, the life cycle of the battery diminishes. That is why it is always suggested to drain the battery down completely before charging it again.
- Please update the bios and chipset drivers from this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-15-Notebook-PC-series/10862158/model/121...
- Please calibrate the battery from this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-15-Notebook-PC-series/10862158/model/12152441/docume...
- You don’t need to run battery diagnostics. Please calibrate the battery only.
