Hi  @euphreim-zappy

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I hear your concern on how this must feel to see your battery stack showing 0%.

Could you please share the exact HP laptop model name or number?

To better understand the issue, When did you first notice the battery dropping to 0%?

Does the laptop shut down immediately, or does it continue running despite showing 0%?

Are you using the original HP charger and cable?

Have you seen any error messages, such as “battery not detected”?

Below are few steps you can try :

  1. Check HP Support Assistant: Run the battery diagnostic tool to see if it flags any issues.
  2. Perform a Hard Reset: Shut down the laptop, disconnect the charger, remove the battery (if removable), then press and hold the power button for 15 seconds before reconnecting.
  3. Update BIOS and Drivers: Outdated firmware can cause battery misreporting.
  4. Test with Another Charger: If available, try a different HP-certified charger to rule out power supply issues.
  5. Calibrate the Battery: Fully charge the battery, then let it drain completely, and recharge again to reset the battery sensor.

If the battery still shows 0% after these steps, it may indicate a failing battery that needs replacement.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
