Common problems for Battery

After replacing 3x a new battery, i still have the same problem that the battery icon shows a 'X'. I still have to use my PC on the powercord.

It is an original Hp battery for HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC, serial 5CD5105VLX productname: M0R67EA#UUG

Label on the Battery(hp VI04XL)- model number HSTNN-DB6L (14.08V 40Wh) shows

spare 756746-001

CT : 6ECNR08BH752CO  model number HSTNN-DB6L (14.08V 40Wh)

i follow all the steps mentioned on your site, even a bios update.

I understand after replacing the battery on your PC you are getting an unknown message.

 

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

 

Did you make any software or hardware changes to your PC?

 

Please provide the product number of your PC to assist you better.

 

As you mentioned you see a red x on the battery icon on your laptop.
 

I have checked the records and it looks like the battery you have purchased seems to be incorrect.

 

Please find the part number for battery listed below.

 

4-cell, 41 WHr, 2.8A H Li-ion battery           756743-001


Try updating BIOS on your PC and check if it helps.

 

Also.try updating the drivers on your PC using HP support assistant and check if it helps.

 

Update the BIOS using this link.

 

Refer this article to know more information about using HP support assistant.

 

Try the steps recommended below.

 

Step 01. Click on the Start Button
Step 02. Type "Device Manager" in the start search box & open the Device Manager
Step 03. Look for Batteries and expand it by click on the + symbol on the left
Step 04. Right Click on "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" & uninstall
Note: This Battery driver will get reinstalled automatically when you restart the Notebook again
Step 05. Please Shutdown the Notebook
Step 06. Please remove the Battery and unplug the Power Adapter
Step 07. Press and Hold the Power Button for full 1 Minute
Step 08. Go ahead and put back the Battery and connect the Power Adapter
Step 09. Look for "Plugged In Charging" message on the Battery icon
 
After performing all the steps if you are facing the same issue still, please perform three more steps:
1. Run a Battery Check in HP Support Assistant[Install the Software if it's not available]
Note: Replace the Battery If Health Check Status shows Replace
2. Update the latest BIOS for your Notebook from HP Support Site
3. Please check your Notebook with a known good Power Adapter & Battery from a different Notebook 
Note: If a known good battery is also not charging we need to replace the system board.

 

Also, refer this document to understand more about calibrating batteries.

 

You can purchase the battery from HP parts store using this link.

 

Also, refer the laptop maintenance and service guide to know more information.

Dear

 

 

i've tried al of these steps more than once, nothing wil help.

I've no printer.

I've updated the bios.

still no result

 

even my original battery is not regonized anymore

Note: If a known good battery is also not charging we need to replace the system board, i think in this case i'll work with the power cord, what does a new system board costs, must anything be reinstalled?

As you mentioned the issue still persists after trying out the steps.

 

It certainly seems to be an issue with the battery compatibility of the battery connectors on the system board could have gone faulty.

 

And I'm not sure about the prices for the parts.

 

You have to contact HP phone support or HP parts store to know the parts quotation.
