Hi @rider14,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can imagine how frustrating this is. Your HP laptop showing 0% battery and shutting off immediately when unplugged means it’s not charging at all. Let’s break down the most common reasons and what you can do:

Step-by-Step Fix

1. Check Battery Status

  • Plug in the charger and turn on the laptop.
  • Go to Windows Settings → System → Power & Battery → Battery Health (or use HP Support Assistant).
  • If it says Battery not detected or 0% and not charging, the battery is likely faulty.

2. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Restart your laptop and press F2 (or ESC → F2) to enter HP Diagnostics.
  • Run Battery Test.
  • If it fails, the battery needs replacement.

3. Perform BIOS Restore

  • Shut down the computer, keep the charger plugged in
  • Hold down the Windows and B buttons together while the computer is still turned off.
  • Turn on the computer and continue to hold the Windows and B buttons until a BIOS Recovery screen appears.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions and click on OK.

4. Check Adapter & Port

  • Ensure you’re using the original HP charger.
  • Try another wall socket.
  • Inspect the charging port for damage.

5. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Disconnect the charger.
  • Hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
  • Plug back in and restart.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
