HP Laptop 15-db0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

On the 23rd October I purchased from the Currys’ store in Chorley, Lancashire; an HP Laptop 15-db0xxx, [personal information removed]; and product number 4AR98EA#ABU.

This machine was bought because of my very satisfactory previous purchase of HP products; but in particular because of the promised battery run time of 10 + hours on the HP web pages.

Unfortunately the best time achieved after recharging is only 4 hours and ten minutes which is of course unsatisfactory.

I am aware that purchases ex Currys are sold under their guarantee, but as this is a constituent part of the computer, I would be grateful for suggestions as to a solution to this problem.

Many thanks

Brian Austerfield

So you need to make a warranty claim or return the laptop. I looked it up on the Currys site and the claim is not 10 hours + as you said above and its not even 10 hours its "up to 10 hours" which is a vastly different thing.  Good luck.

Likely solutions will not meet your expectations. Battery runtime claims are to be taken with a grain of salt. If you read the fine print they are carefully hedged to avoid becoming any kind of warranty. With battery management techniques you might stretch runtime in practical operation to 5-6 hours but 10 is just not going to be in the cards. Do you still have a return privilege to Currys?

A grian of salt does not cut it as the web specificationon HP and Currys quote specifically a 10 hour life after charging.

Have contacted Currys and they referred me back to HP
