I understand your laptop’s battery seems to drain faster even during light tasks like watching movies or browsing. Let’s go through a few steps to help improve battery performance.
a. Check Power Mode Settings
• Click on the battery icon in the taskbar.
• Set it to Best Power Efficiency or Balanced Mode.
• Go to Settings > System > Power & Battery, and make sure Battery Saver turns on automatically at 20–30%.
b. Reduce Screen Brightness & Turn Off Unused Features
• Keep brightness around 40–50% when indoors.
• Turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Keyboard Backlight if not in use.
c. Close Background Apps & Startup Programs
• Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc → Open Task Manager.
• End apps using high CPU or power under the Processes tab.
• Go to Startup Apps and disable apps you don’t need at startup.
d. Update BIOS, Graphics, and Drivers
• Outdated drivers can cause more power consumption.
• Open HP Support Assistant and install all important updates (BIOS, graphics, chipset).
e. Adjust Video Playback Settings
• Go to Settings > Apps > Video Playback.
• Set Battery Options to “Optimize for battery life.”
f. Disable Fast Startup (Optional for Better Battery Health)
• Search and open Control Panel > Power Options.
• Click Choose what the power buttons do → Uncheck Turn on fast startup.
g. Perform Battery Calibration (If Percentage Drops Suddenly)
• Charge the battery to 100%, then use the laptop until it shuts down automatically.
• Recharge it back to 100% without interruption.
• This helps Windows read the battery level accurately.
h. Battery Care Tips for Long Life
• Try to keep battery between 20% and 80% during daily use.
• Avoid using the laptop on soft surfaces (like bed or pillow) to prevent overheating.
• Don’t keep the charger plugged in 24/7 – give the battery some discharge cycles.
I hope this helps.

Your laptop battery may drain fast even during light tasks because some apps run in the background or the screen is too bright. You can lower the screen brightness. Close extra apps. Turn off wifi or bluetooth when you do not need them. Use battery saver mode. If the problem stays you can ask a technician to check the battery.
