@abcd123489364, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
If your HP unit is not detecting your flash drive in the BIOS, you can follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:
Check the USB Port and Flash Drive
Try a different USB port: Sometimes, the problem may be with the specific port you're using. Plug the flash drive into a different USB port.
Test on another computer: To confirm if the issue is with the flash drive, try inserting it into a different computer. If it works there, the problem might be specific to your HP computer.
Restart the Computer and Enter BIOS
Shut down your computer completely.
Turn it back on, and as soon as the HP logo appears, press the Esc key repeatedly to open the Startup Menu.
From the Startup Menu, press F10 to enter the BIOS settings.
Check the BIOS Settings
In the BIOS menu:
Enable USB Configuration:
Go to the Advanced or Integrated Peripherals tab (depending on the model).
Look for an option related to USB Configuration or USB Legacy Support and ensure that it is enabled.
If it's disabled, change it to Enabled.
Check Boot Order (if trying to boot from USB):
Navigate to the Boot Options section.
Ensure that USB is listed as one of the boot devices.
Set USB as a higher priority if you're trying to boot from the flash drive.
Reset BIOS to Default
If the issue persists, you may want to reset your BIOS settings to their default values:
Load Setup Defaults: In the BIOS, find the option to load default settings (this is usually under the Exit tab). This will reset any custom settings you might have adjusted, which could be causing the issue.
Note: After resetting the BIOS, you may need to reconfigure certain settings such as boot order or system date/time.
Disable Fast Boot or Secure Boot (if applicable)
Disable Secure Boot:
In the BIOS menu, go to Boot Options and look for Secure Boot.
If it's enabled, try disabling it and check if the system detects the flash drive.
Disable Fast Boot:
Some HP computers have a Fast Boot option that may prevent the BIOS from fully detecting USB devices at startup.
In the BIOS, look for the Fast Boot option and disable it.
Update BIOS (if necessary)
If none of the above steps work, consider updating your BIOS to the latest version, as an outdated BIOS could sometimes cause hardware compatibility issues. You can check for BIOS updates on HP’s official website for your specific laptop or desktop model.
Check the Flash Drive Format
If you are trying to boot from the flash drive, make sure it is formatted correctly (typically FAT32 or NTFS for large files) and contains a bootable operating system or data.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
