Microsoft Windows 11

Hi Community,

I have the HP Pavilion X360 15" laptop for just over a year now.  I have since experienced blue screen of death issue many times when I have the AC power charger plugged in, particularly when a video is on.  It is perfectly fine with battery only.  I searched around on the website and found many people having the same issue but no clear answer/solution is given.  The laptop was diagnosed in a Geek Squad repair store, saying it might be problem with the motherboard.  So have two questions for answer or information:

1. Is there any successful fix of this issue?

2. I tried to use the USB-C port to charge the laptop but didn't work.  The user manual says the USB Type-C connector is for charging computer battery as well.  Is it because the output power current is not enough?  Should I use a USB C PD adapter and chord to charge the laptop?

Thanks,

James

Welcome to the HP support community.

What error code are you getting when you get a blue screen, I am glad to assist you.

Hi Sandytechy20, thanks for the reply.

The message with the blue screen starts from typical "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart...".  I remember a sentence like "critical  process died".  This is the first time I encountered the blue screen which doesn't restart to the login window.

For your information, I sent the laptop to Best Buy, diagnosed, activated and installed Window 11.  But the BSOD issue is not solved.

Since the laptop passed the warranty period and the problem persists.  I hope I can buy a USB type C charger to charge with the type C connector to avoid the BSOD while connected with AC plugged in.  The laptop is HP Pavilion x360 convertible 15-dq2000.  If you know something about this please advise.

Thanks,

James
