Hi, I have a 15-p051us model laptop, camera displays blotches of blue and purple when in use, either on my person or in the background but not both. This occurs regardless of what program I'm using the camera in. I've looked around and can't seem to find the answer I am looking for, please help!

@Pattyb593 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that the camera displays blotches of blue and purple when in use.

Do not worry. I will try to fix the issue.

Let's update the Webcam driver from Device Manager

  1. Make sure you are connected to the Internet.

  2. In Device Manager, double-click Imaging devices.

  3. Right-click your webcam or video device, then select Update Driver Software.

  4. In the Update Driver Software window, select Search automatically for updated driver software.

    Figure : Update Driver Software window

    Update Driver Software window
  5. After the message, Windows has successfully updated your driver software, or The best driver software for your device is already installed, click Close.

  6. Open YouCam to see if the application opens and the driver update resolves the issue

Also update the BIOS from this Link: https://hp.care/2pxJYAe

If the issue persist, please run a diagnostic on the Webcam to confirm the Hardware Functionality

- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests and Webcam
