Hi @RobB82,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the camera shutter key and power button on your HP Spectre X360 16 Inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC stopped working after a software update, you can try the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.

  • Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can help resolve software glitches. Restart your laptop and check if the camera shutter key and power button start working again.
  • Update Drivers: Ensure that your device drivers are up-to-date. Visit the HP support website and download the latest drivers for your laptop, especially those related to the camera and power button. Install them and see if the issue persists.
  • Windows Update: Check if there are any pending Windows updates. Sometimes, updating your operating system can resolve compatibility issues that may be causing the problem.
  • Roll Back the Update: If the issue started after a recent software update, you can try rolling back the update to the previous version. Go to "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Windows Update" > "View update history" > "Uninstall updates." Locate the recent update and uninstall it.
  • System Restore: If rolling back the update doesn't work, you can try using the System Restore feature to revert your system to a previous state before the update. This will undo recent system changes without affecting your personal files. To perform a system restore, search for "Create a restore point" in the Start menu, go to the "System Protection" tab, and click on "System Restore."
  • Check for Third-Party Software Conflicts: Sometimes, third-party software can interfere with the normal functioning of hardware components. Try disabling or uninstalling recently installed third-party applications and check if the issue is resolved.
  • HP Support Assistance: Use HP Support Assistance or similar software provided by HP to run hardware diagnostics. This can help identify if there are any hardware-related issues causing the problem.

Remember to back up your important data before making any significant changes to your system.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
