can I use my type-c port to connect my phone to my laptop and transfer data between them

I want to connect the iPhone to the type-c port, but the phone is only charging and the laptop does not see the phone, just like the phone does not see the laptop

Not all cables work....what cable are you using?

I use the original lightning - type-c wire and it worked with other laptops, can I find out if my port doesn't work or if the problem is something else, because it only charges the phone

iPhones are notoriously tricky to allow access to files...hard security. I believe its a usb setting in the phone for charge only or allow data transer. I use android myself and its much less of an issue.

but after all, on other laptops everything worked as it should and the iPhone was recognized and at the same time no settings were changed, how can I find out if my type-c port is working properly and whether it supports it at all except charging

All USB-C ports on HP laptops support data transfer. If the port puts out a charge, very unlikely there is anything defective with the port on the laptop. You can run a diagnostic on the port in UEFI (preboot) diagnostics or make a bootable usb disk to run the full hardware diagnostic routine. You need a usb device to use for testing like maybe a thumb drive connected by a usb-C to USB-A adapter. The diagnostic will test whether data can be transferred through the port.
