can i connect M.2 SSD on my laptop 45040s ? or only normal SSD is compatible ?

maximum Ram can be added is 16 gb correct ?

There is no M2 slot for SSD. So you will need to replace the 2.5" hard drive with a 2.5"SSD sucha as the Samsung 860 evo or sinilar.

On page 62 of service manual you can see how to replace the drive

Max RAM according to service manual is 8GB of DDR3 1333Mhz RAM. However your PC should run with 16GB of RAM as you can see on this Crucial site which guaranteed its RAM upgrades:
