hi i would like to know if i am able to upgrade to a dual band card. the card that is currently installed is Atheros AR5B95

or is it whitelisted to only allow 2.4ghz cards

Let's get straight to it!

 

(As an upgrade/custom enthusiast I personally love the idea of upgrading the device as well, However, HP recommends that you go easy on it as the device is equipped with parts that perform at its optimal performance and also, the upgradeable parts listed below are purely for your ease, though the decision to upgrade will be at your own discretion)

To answer your question, the 2x2 Dual-band card supports 5ghz frequency, however, I would personally suggest using an external USB wireless dongle as it's portable and easy to install, compared to the internal replacements which could cause compatibility issues among others, let me know what you'd like to do.
