It depends on what you have now. It is Intel so the processor is socketed and can be removed and upgraded but only within a very limited range of choices. If it is an i3 you can install an i5 (specific type) and if it is Celeron you can upgrade to a Pentium dual core (again, a specific type). So we need to know what you have now.

Top upgrade:

 

Intel Core i5 processors 3230M 2.60-GHz processor (3.0-MB L3 cache, dual core, 35 W)

 

Service manual

 

Even though it is only a .2 ghz upgrade I would say it is more like a 15-20% effective upgrade. Right on the borderline of being worth the effort.
