can i take the back off hp15-fc0018na and upgrade to m.2 hd as it only has 128gb and its in s mode and i need to install a program thanks

You can replace the 128 GB NVMe SSD with one having a greater storage capacity.
BUT...you need to check to see if your notebook will support a M.2 2280 NVMe SSD because the 128 GB drive that HP installed is one of those much smaller M.2 2230 NVMe SSD's, so you need to make sure that you can either move the standoff to where a 2280 SSD would go, or buy a larger capacity M.2 2230 NVMe SSD, such as the one below:
