is it possible that can upgrade my probook 6550b from 8gb to 16gb of ram?thanks for the answer in advance!

The Service Manual lists 8 gb (2 x 4) of DDR3L-1600 SO-DIMM as the max. Have seen some users report 16 gb works with the Intel Quad Core processors. You can check the max memory capacity of the motherboard with a command line inquiry as stated here:

HP notebooks with the Intel Core first gen CPUs are notoriously finicky about memory. Has to be low density dual rank configuration modules and has to be stock OEM like SK Hynix modules.
