i want to upgrade my laptop by 8gb ram. is this compatible with my laptop processor?

You can always upgrade the RAM.
If you upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit the RAM will be recognized by the system and you will see the 12GB of RAM.
Windows 7 32-bit only can recognize less than 4GB even if you have more RAM in the PC.

Hi,
Your PC suppports max 16GB of DDR3L-1600Mhz RAM (2x8GB)
So, yes you can add a 8GB stick in the empty slot and bring the total to 12GB.

I think you've got another post elsewhere and because your machine runs 32 bit OS therefore no point to upgrade to anything over 4GB bacause Windows 32 bit won't be able to access anything over 4GB.
