Can I remove the battery from HP Pavilion Laptop 16t-af000, 16"?

If not, can I leave the laptop plugged in all the time without causing a problem?

Thanks for any info you can give me.

You should be able to run the notebook without a battery but since there isn't a RTC battery that used to be used on older notebooks with removable external batteries, every time you shut down the PC whether it is plugged in or not, it will lose the system clock settings and if you made any changes from the default BIOS settings, it will set them back to their defaults.

The BIOS will report a CMOS 502 error, and you will have to set the time and date every time you turn on the notebook.

As long as you don't leave the notebook plugged into A/C power 24/7/365 with the battery in a constant 100% charge state, you should be able to leave the notebook plugged in most of the time.

Leaving the battery in a constant 100% charge state may lead to battery swelling, even though the charger quits charging the battery when the charge level reaches 100%.

Let the battery discharge once in a while.

See this link for how to get the most life out of your notebook's battery:

If you want to go through that annoying CMOS 502 reset issue every time you turn on the notebook, here is the link to the service manual where you can find the battery removal and replacement procedure.
