Hi @nihcas,

Thanks for stopping by the HP community. A very good day to you. 🙂 I reviewed the post regarding the computer not booting with a blinking caps lock light. I will be delighted to assist you here. 🙂

Superb description and stupendous diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this.

  • Did this happen after a bios, software or windows update?
  • Did this occur after a power surge or power outage?

For a start please perform these steps:

  • It looks like a hardware issue with the computer.
  • For a start please perform these steps:
  • Please perform a hard reset from this link: http://hp.care/2nwQ054
  • and check again by powering on the computer.
  • If it does not work, please try to update the bios by performing the steps from this link: http://hp.care/2rZhONT  and check if the issue gets fixed.
  • Try both the methods mentioned in the link. Try the windows keyboard combination and if that does not work please try the Method 2 by downloading the bios to a USB flash drive for this computer from http://hp.care/2syreDe on a different computer and update it from the flash drive.
  • Finally, if nothing works please try all the relevant steps that correctly match the issue with your computer from this link: http://hp.care/2um9a17 and check if the issue is corrected.
  • If nothing works, please contact a local Best Buy or Staples technician to get the computer serviced as the computer has a hardware issue. The computer is retired now as HP is not supplied with the parts to fix the computer by its original part manufacturers.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, Going by your technical expertise and competence I am sure you will be able to perform these steps without breaking a sweat. 🙂

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.

Hi @nihcas,

I reviewed the post completely. thanks for the quick response. You've displayed amazing technical skills, profound technical expertise and commendable research to try and find answers for the issue. Kudos to you for a job well done. It is greatly appreciated. 🙂

I understand that you cannot go to the bios. That is the reason I specifically gave links on how to restore the bios without actually going to it with keyboard combinations or by downloading it from http://hp.care/2syreDe to a USB flash drive from a different computer and then using the USB flash drive to update it. I will give you the link: http://hp.care/2rZhONT for it again.

Please try step 1 which is the keyboard combination of power button Windows + B.  if this method does not work, try the second method.

Finally, if nothing works, please follow all the steps from this document http://hp.care/2uo4Bn5 and check if it resolves the issue.

If it continues, please contact a local technician to get the computer repaired as it has a hardware issue.

Trust me I've done all I can to assist you by keeping your best interest in mind. You've been commendable and it has been an absolute privilege to share this platform with you. :)I genuinely hope the computer works great and stays healthy for a long time once it gets fixed. 🙂
