HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-es0000 (268T9AV)

Since updating to Windows 11, my card reader has stopped working, despite all the new drivers.
Has anyone fixed the same issue? Thanks.

@Mulder66, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

If your SD card reader stopped working after upgrading to Windows 11 on your HP ENVY x360 15-es0000, you're not alone—this has been reported by several users. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you resolve the issue:

Install Compatible Card Reader Driver

The Windows 11 driver for your specific model might not be listed, but users have had success using the Realtek Card Reader driver from a similar model (HP ENVY x360 15-ee1xxx series):

Official HP® Support

  1. Download and install the driver.
  2. Restart your laptop.
  3. Insert your SD card and check if it appears in File Explorer.

Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers

Outdated BIOS or chipset drivers can interfere with hardware detection.

  1. Go to the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
  2. Enter your product number.
  3. Download and install the latest BIOS and Chipset drivers.
  4. Restart your system.

Run HP Support Assistant

HP Support Assistant can automatically detect and fix hardware issues.

  1. Download or open HP Support Assistant. HP Support Assistant | HP® Support
  2. Run a full system check.
  3. Install any recommended updates.

Check Device Manager

  1. Press Windows + X → Select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Memory Technology Devices or Universal Serial Bus controllers.
  3. Look for any yellow exclamation marks or unknown devices.
  4. Right-click and select Update driverSearch automatically.

Test with Another SD Card

Sometimes the issue could be with the card itself. Try a different SD card to rule that out.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
