Hi @bhaveshkhinchi1

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your HP charger is making a constant sound while charging—such as buzzing, whining, or clicking—it may indicate electrical interference, coil whine, or a fault in the adapter.

It’s unsettling when something as routine as charging starts sounding off. Let’s walk through a few steps to help you identify the cause and decide what to do next:

1. Identify the type of sound

  • High-pitched whine or buzz: Often caused by coil whine from internal components.
  • Clicking or pulsing: May suggest unstable power delivery or a failing capacitor.

If the sound is faint and only audible in a quiet room, it may be harmless. But if it’s loud, persistent, or accompanied by heat or charging issues, it needs attention.

2. Try a different wall outlet

  • Plug the charger directly into a different outlet (not a surge protector).
  • Avoid outlets shared with high-power appliances like refrigerators or air conditioners.
  • If the sound disappears, it may be caused by electrical interference.

3. Inspect the charger and cable

  • Check for frayed wires, bent pins, or discoloration.
  • If the charger feels unusually hot or the sound intensifies during charging, unplug it immediately.

4. Test with another compatible HP charger

  • If available, try charging with a different HP adapter that matches your laptop’s voltage and wattage.
  • If the sound stops, your original charger may be defective.

5. Check HP’s official charger troubleshooting guide

If the charger is under warranty and the sound persists despite trying different outlets or setups, you may want to request a replacement.

Let me know your laptop model and charger part number if you’d like help checking compatibility or warranty coverage.
