Hi all,
I am very much disappointed at the point of time writing this. I owned a hp chrome Book 14 c, and from the beginning, its hardware was found faulty, first time it was the battery.Along with the battery, they found the motherboard also had some issues and they changed both. I purchased an extended warranty, and my machine is under that coverage now. Yesterday without any prior sign the battery died suddenly, the day before this happened the machine don't have any other issues, at least I noticed nothing. When contacted customer care they told me the battery is not covered under an extended warranty. Yesterday the machine was working under direct power without any issues but today it is automatically shut down when working on direct power. I invested a good amount in this machine and have to invest more to make it work properly, which changed my perspective about the quality of hp hardware. I am a startup founder and an embedded engineer, seriously thinking about again considering a hp machine again in my business. And they even don't agree to assign a technician to my case to check what is the real issue. (Today they registered a case id for a technician visit). My genuine question is how a battery died within 2 years of usage, that too from a company like hp?

Hi @Santhoshvpillai,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your Chromebook 14 C battery died suddenly, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.
- Charge the Chromebook: Connect the charger to the Chromebook and make sure it is properly plugged into a power source. Leave it charging for at least 30 minutes to see if the battery begins to charge again.
- Check the charging cable and adapter: Inspect the charging cable and adapter for any visible damage or frayed wires. If you notice any issues, try using a different charger or cable to see if that resolves the problem.
- Reset the Chromebook: Sometimes a simple reset can fix minor software or hardware glitches. To perform a reset, press and hold the Power button for about 10-15 seconds until the Chromebook turns off. Then, press the Power button again to turn it back on.
- Check the battery connection: In some cases, the battery may have become loose or disconnected. However, it's important to note that opening a Chromebook can void the warranty.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
