is the HP 14" Notebook compatible with the HP Dock G5?  I need to connect to external ASUS monitor.

Probably not, since the HP laptop series are entry level laptops.

If all you need to do is connect to an ASUS LCD display, all you need is a good quality HDMI cable.

You will use that to connect between the HDMI 1.4b port on your laptop and the ASUS LCD display.

Make that connection and then boot to Windows. Hold the Windows key down and tap the P key once.

That will invoke the Windows presentation mode, which give you the available options   where you can project the display.

You can choose duplicate or even just the external display.

Thanks for the info.  I had G5 to access HP ENVY Laptop with destroyed screen (broken hinge, screen damage worsened every time laptop opened up).  Cant afford repair or direct replacement.  Had issue with ENVY but now resolved, dont need new Notebook.
