HP 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-cp0000 (2Q7W7AV)

Apparently the brand new HP laptop I bought is not compatible with ANY HP hubs. I've tried other universal ones, there's something about SS USB 3, USB A, and incompatibility challenges. I have a work Dell and an HP USB C G5 hub, two monitors, a keyboard and mouse. I basically need something that will work with my Dell and with my new HP laptop. I tried a universal kvm switch and a usb c to 3 adaptor, but no dice. Can someone suggest a universal hub that will work with a USB C connection AND a USB A or 3 SS, not sure what this laptop model needs. Thanks in advance.

Your machine could be one of the following 190 machines

            https://support.hp.com/rs-en/product/product-specs/hp-17.3-inch-laptop-pc-17-cp0000/model/2100371575

For example:    HP Laptop 17-cp0700dx

You already know it ONLY has 1 hopeless SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to

  • Charge your machine,
  • Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter (some hubs may have builtin chip to support this)

Definitely your current machine won't work on your dock like the Dell. You can use HP older dock or buy a new HP machine which is compatible wit your HP USB-C G5 dock.

What is your decision ?

Regards.

Thank you. I wonder if there are hubs with a built-in chip to support the connection to SS USB?
