HP Envy x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-fe0000 (77X85AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Daughter's laptop has been getting hot and we assumed the fan is the issue.

I always thought this model had a discrete graphics card but as there's only one fan I'm assuming I was wrong. When I opened it (and, despite following the instructions and using the correct tool, a lot of the tabs have snapped 😠) the fan looked really off-centre.

The video HP have says that the fan on the left should be the CPU fan but if this machine only has one fan surely the one on the right should be the CPU fan? Not that I've been able to find one to buy anywhere.

Can anyone conform which should be which?

It seems to me that all of the models under the general 77X85AV product number only come with the onboard Intel graphics adapter.  Motherboard part numbers all indicate UMA (universal memory architecture = onboard Intel graphics).

Your screenshot only shows one fan.

The one without a vent seems to be a dummy fan.

So I take it your notebook uses this fan part number:

Processor fan (for use in models with integrated graphics)    HP part # N49282-001

You can verify that info to be correct by entering your specific notebook's product number in the tool's search window to get the parts list for your notebook:

HP PartSurfer

You can find your PC's product number by clicking on the search icon on your Windows taskbar.

Type: System Information

The System information app should show up.

Run the app and the product number of your PC will be found on the System SKU line about 1/4 of the way down on the report.

Thanks, Paul,

I may not have been clear enough. The HP video is saying that the CPU fan should be on the left- where I have a dummy fan - and the GPU is on the right. If I don't have a GPU that can't be correct, surely? The CPU fan must be on the right, no? I mean, obviously it's the only one in there and I'm not even 100% convinced that it's faulty.

PS I had found and checked that product number for the fan but there are none in stock.

You're very welcome.

There's only one fan so your notebook does not have a dedicated GPU, just the onboard graphics.

So the fan part number and description I posted has to be the right one.

You'll have to find the part number from a 3rd party reseller such as on eBay:

The fans in the first two listings seem to look off-centered like yours is, so it must be the way they are designed.

You can also contact one of HP's authorized parts suppliers who do business in the UK at the link below and see if they have the fan part number you need.
