That should work.
The USB Thunderbolt 4 Type-C port should work with a USB to DisplayPort adapter if the notebook truly has support for the Thunderbolt 4 specifications..
You can however, use a KVM switch to accomplish external dual display output.

You can find many dual display KVM switches for sale online through vendors.
