i recnetly had to purchase a new motherboard for my hp 15 f222wm. The company i purchased it from is trying to tell me that this particular model has a microprocessor and came without a cpu fan installed in it. I find this hard to beleive b/c for one the user/owners manual shows a fan installed on it but the board doesnt have a place to plug the fan in on. Could someone please tell me for sure if this particular model has a cpu fan or not. Im at my witts end here

Hi,
I believe the models with Pentium CPUs do not have a fan in this series of notebooks. The heatsink (not shown in service manual) is a large piece of thin metal which should provide enough dispersion of heat. Once the heatsink is installed it is not possible to install a fan (that is also why the connector is not present on motherboard).
Heatsink:

Hope it helps,

thank you so much i spoke to a tech from hp (or thats what they claimed) last week and he told me that hp has never manufactured a system w/o a cpu fan, so you can imagine my confusion when i got the new motherboard and there was no place to plug it in on the motherboard. so ive been struggling with this for the past week. Your a life saver and I greatly appreciate your expertise

Your welcome.
Yes they are rather rare and it is not mentioned in service manual, however some lower power notebooks have been produced without fan.
Do you have the heatsink? it is important that the correct heatsink is in place.
Let me know if you need further help.
All the best,
David
