@kieran271,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

It sounds like what you’re running into is thermal and power throttling, not a defective CPU. The HP 15-fd0000 series is an entry-level consumer laptop designed for light workloads like web browsing, schoolwork, and media playback. Running a streaming program such as TikTok Live is fairly demanding—it needs sustained CPU/GPU performance and stable cooling.

A few things you can check/try:

  1. Update your system

  2. Check your cooling/airflow

    • Place the laptop on a hard surface (not a bed/couch).

    • Consider a cooling pad to help with airflow.

  3. Power settings

    • In Windows, go to Settings → System → Power & battery → Power mode and set it to Best performance.

    • In the BIOS, make sure "Performance" mode is enabled if that option exists.

  4. Background processes

    • Streaming software is resource-heavy. Close other apps while streaming.

That said, the 15-fd0000 is not built for heavy streaming -it uses lower-power CPUs that throttle quickly under sustained load to avoid overheating. This is why you’re seeing the "underclocking" behavior.

If your primary goal is livestreaming, you’ll want a laptop designed with higher sustained performance:

  • An HP Pavilion Gaming or HP Victus laptop (with a Ryzen 5/7 or Intel i5/i7 H-series CPU + dedicated GPU) would be a much better fit.

  • If you want something more professional, an HP OMEN or ZBook is designed for sustained workloads.

Bottom line: You can try the tweaks above, but for reliable streaming, you will likely need a laptop with stronger cooling and a higher-performance processor.

Kind Regards,
