ctrl c (copy) and ctrl v (paste) does not work. Ctrl A works on left ctrl key. None of this work on the right one.

Hi @jeemat,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • Is this happening across all applications (for example, Word, browsers, Notepad), or only in certain programs?
  • Have you recently updated Windows or installed new software before the issue started?
  • Does the keyboard you’re using connect via USB, Bluetooth, or is it built into a laptop?

Suggested troubleshooting steps

  1. Check with another keyboard
If possible, plug in or connect a different keyboard to see if the shortcuts work. This helps confirm whether the issue is hardware-related.
  2. Test in Safe Mode
Restart your PC in Safe Mode and try the shortcuts again. If they work there, a background program or driver may be interfering.
  3. Update or reinstall drivers
    • Go to Device Manager → Keyboards → right-click your keyboard → Update driver.
    • If updating doesn’t help, try uninstalling the driver and restarting your PC so Windows reinstalls it automatically.
  4. Check for sticky keys or accessibility settings
Sometimes accessibility features can interfere with shortcut behavior. Open Settings → Accessibility → Keyboard and make sure Sticky Keys or Filter Keys are turned off.
  5. Run the HP Hardware Diagnostics tool
If you’re on an HP device, you can run the built-in diagnostics to check if the Ctrl keys are registering correctly.

I hope this helps.
