hello..pls i bought a laptop from my friend which came pre-installed with windows 8 but he downgraded it to windows 7 for unknown reasons, and am tired with windows 7, so i considered upgrading to windows 10 "clean install windows 10"

so..my question is, do i need to updates the drivers before installing windows 10 since am going to do a  clean install "erase everything" and install windows 10  and secondly, does touch screen work in windows 10?

When you buy Windows 10 you are generally offered it on a usb thumb drive in a box. You can also just go online and buy a Key Code for installation and then go to the Microsoft Media Creation Tool site and download Windows 10. It will give instructions to either burn it to a DVD which won't be of much use to you if the laptop you want to install it on has no DVD drive, or to a usb thumb drive at least 8 gigs, which would be the way for you to go. I will say Microsoft still does allow a free upgrade to Windows 10 if you happen to need assistive technology because of visual impairment or similar issues;

Hello @victormax

If you want to upgrade to Windows 10, you will have to purchase a key and clean install it.

There is no free upgrade anymore unfortunately.

Since you would be clean installing, there will be no updates needed ahead of time. The current configuration will be wiped and a new OS installed.

When you install, choose to Custom install and manually wipe all the partitions on the drive.

As far as I know, there are no reported issues with the Sleekbook and Win10 touch screen issues.

It will work with the built in generic drivers in Windows 10 already.

Let me know if you have other questions.

thanks....it helped me clear my confusion. also i have another question.

my laptop dont have a cd/dvd drive so am going to install it from a harddrive, so am going to buy a cd plate containing windows 10, then copy it to a hardrive. after that do i need to create an installation media or bootable device?

should they be on separate harddrive? am not really clear on that...thanks..:OpenSmile:
