I have a HP Laptop 15-dy2035tg and would like to know if there are any available docking stations compatible with that product. Should I look for something that has DisplayLink since the laptop is a few years old? Thanks for any help or assistance with this!!

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Your laptop includes a USB-C port, but it does not support video output (DisplayPort Alt Mode) or power delivery. This means standard USB-C hubs or docks that rely on native video passthrough will not work for connecting external monitors. Instead, you’ll want to look for a docking station that uses DisplayLink technology.
DisplayLink docks connect via USB-A or USB-C and use a software driver to enable video output. This makes them ideal for laptops like yours that lack native video over USB-C. These docks can support multiple monitors, Ethernet, USB peripherals, and audio connections. However, they do not charge your laptop, so you’ll need to keep your regular charger connected.
You’ll need to install the DisplayLink driver on your Windows PC. You can download it from Synaptics’ official DisplayLink site. Once installed, the dock will handle video output through software rendering.
Some compatible options include the HP Universal USB-C/A Dock G2 and the HP USB-C Dock G5.
If you’d like help choosing a specific model based on how many monitors or ports you need, I’d be happy to help narrow it down.

Thank you for your reply to my inquiry - much appreciated!! I had reviewed some of the previous posts and did see the one that recommended a dock using DisplayLink instead of DisplayPort. I plan on implementing dual monitors for my work at home and the suggestions provided here are most helpful. I will look into the HP dock options mentioned in your reply. Thanks again for your follow-up!!

You're very welcome—I'm really glad the suggestions were helpful!
DisplayLink-based docks are a great choice for dual monitor setups, especially when you're working with USB-C or USB-A ports and want flexibility across different systems.
HP offers several solid options like the HP Universal USB-C Multiport Hub and HP USB-C/A Universal Dock G2, both of which support DisplayLink and are known for their reliability and compatibility.
If you ever need help choosing between models or configuring your dual monitor layout for productivity, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to walk you through it!
