Thanks. Got it. I fully understand.
Do you by any chance recall if the switch lit up on the dock before the drivers were installed. This would seem a natural way for it to be designed because then one would know that the dock was operational, but of course it would not show anything on a connected screen until the drivers were installed.
If I knew this was the case I would not need to spend more time on this as the drivers are already installed, or seem to be.
However, I never got the icon in the tool bar which I understand I should have. So this could indicate that the drivers were not correctly installed.
On the other hand again, it seems highly possible that the icon would only appear when an operational dock was connected.
The main piece of information would be of tremendous help to me. Does it light up on connection, regardless of the correct drivers being present.

Yes on mine the light comes on to indicate the dock is powered even if it is not plugged into the laptop. If yours does not it seems likely the dock is dead. I had one die on me and replaced it with one I bought on eBay for not very much money.

Thank you so much. Will get another one.
It is really such a shame that the whole hp organisation was incapable of providing me this info. Though of course they do provide this forum. So kudos for that I suppose! 5/10 hp. 10/10 Huffer for you kind and patient help.
