Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My friend has a15 dw1053d that's not booting.

I was inspecting the ram and I noticed that there wasn't a fan.

This doesn't seem right to me.

Will it still boot without a fan or is there built in protection?

Can't even get to the bios.

Hi:

Below is the link to the product specs for your friend's notebook.

HP Laptop 15-dw1053dx Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support

Notebooks with the Intel® Celeron® N4120 processors are engineered to run without a fan.

That is because the processor is a very low wattage processor that generates less heat than an Intel core processor which needs a fan.

If you look at the Intel processor specs, it indicates that the processor uses approximately 4.8W of power.

Intel Celeron Processor N4120 4M Cache up to 2.60 GHz Product Specifications

Compare that processor to the Intel® Core™ i5-10210U that comes in the 15-dw1056cl, and you can see that this processor uses approximately 15W of power and thus requires a cooling fan.

Intel Core i510210U Processor 6M Cache up to 4.20 GHz Product Specifications

If the notebook is not booting, it is not due to a lack of a fan.
