hello just bought an Anker 7-1 usb-c hub and it works perfect on my Acer chrome book but does not work on my HP laptop. Is there anything i can do to fix this or is it the way the machine was built? thanks

How can I support a second external monitor to this laptop. I already have one connected to the hdmi port but it tried connecting a second one to the usb-c port using an Apple type c to hdmi converter but the pc doesn’t recognize the monitor. Is it possible to connect a second monitor and if so, how?

I had the same question.
so does the video signal output on one of the other USB ports on this computer?
I have an HDMI monitor, keyboard and external hard drive that I want to be able to swap quickly between two computers--what is a viable optoin for this model of laptop?
You said the computer was made this way, so I don't completely understand the statement "you need a dock/hub with DisplayLink that runs video over a standard usb connection." Please help me understand.
Thanks

It takes kind of a deep dive into the wonderful world of USB-C. USB-C is a form factor. Little oval plug. What that port can do varies widely. Some actually carry a video signal right out of the port-alt dp its called. In such cases you can directly run a usb-C to Displayport cable out of the laptop and right into a monitor. But if the USB-C port is data only, no native video signal comes out of the laptop. You need to use some kind of intermediary device that will run video on a regular usb connection. That hardware is called DisplayLink. Its contained in many types of docking stations that may be connected either by old school USB 3.0 or USB-C. It's a chip in the dock and requires a driver but Windows 7 and higher I believe and certainly Windows 10 has the driver built in so it just works. This is an example of the type I am talking about:
