My Omen 17-ck0372nr came pre loaded with win 11 and web cam was not found anywhere in device manager or settings. I saw people say they went to win 10 pro and was able to use it.
So like an idiot I went to win 10 pro, although now it is in settings there is nothing in control panel or device manager. I find no driver on HP site for it. Yet there is a physical camera on the lid. Was I duped?

An Omen laptop is a top tier laptop.
AFAIK, only entry level and some mainstream laptops get the dummy webcam covers that look like a webcam but are not.
It is not a dummy camera. Your webcam must be faulty.
The specifications web document states that your laptop has an HP Wide Vision 720p HD camera with integrated dual array digital microphones.

Try Realtek-Camera drivers in the Windows Update catalog

Thank you very much but the cab file for my version of windows would not do it. I appreciate the help though. I find it strange the hardware is not detected ar all and this was not a display or ever had been jolted. Tha is why I am wondering if it is a dummy or this was a defective unit and I discover it after the warranty is over. I thought they gave a two year but I will have to study on the next laptop. Acer/Aopen seem to run troublefree forever. I thought maybe HP had it down by now.
