According to the parts list your notebook does not come with a backlit keyboard:

 

HP PartSurfer

 

M17184-001
TOP COVER No Finger Print Reader With Keyboard, NSV US

 

If you do a search by that part number, you will find the description that it is not backlit.

 

You can also tell if your notebook has a backlit keyboard because one of the function keys will have a keyboard icon with 'rays' above it indicating that is the key to enable the backlight.

Thank you for the reply Paul_Tikkanen.  I've seached online for a Laptop HP 15 dy 2032nr parts list online.  Can you send a link to it?  Even the part that you gave Is missing any backlight details: "M17184-001 TOP COVER No Finger Print Reader With Keyboard, NSV US"    On my Laptop HP 15 dy 2032nr there is no backlight key or I would have used it obviously, but all keys are transparent like somebody forgot the BIOS enable of the light.  The keys are hard to see; very poor design without the light.  Got any ideas that don't include painting the letter on the keys?

  • Condition: Brand new, Color: Silver, Silver keyboard, Layout: US Layout, Without Touchpad, Without backlit.

Unfortunately, I don't know of anything you can do to make it better.

 

Maybe you can change the top cover for a backlit keyboard, but I don't know to do that, or extra parts are needed beyond the top cover with the backlit keyboard part number.

 

For example, it looks like a different fan part number is used for the models with a backlit keyboard (see page 17).

The top cover with backlit keyboard part number can be found in chapter 3 on page 16.

 

There are two different backlit keyboards with different shades of silver, so I don't know which one your notebook uses.
