my laptop keyboard both shift keys are not working. In other words, left key acts as always enabled. so i cannot type any of the numbers,as it will show sysmbols instead of numbers.I have tried reinstalling of OS also. Things works well randomly.
i have connected usb keyboard to test the case, and it also behaves the same. it behaves just like laptop keyboard(ie only symbols and capital letters will be shown).
Please provide latest driver of ACPI\VEN_HPQ&DEV_8001.
I have frustrated with this issue. i got 3 different hp laptop and all 3 got same issue. ut of 3, 1 laptop is working well after software update.

Try these tips and see if it fixes the issue.
Go to the device manager.
Click on the unknown ACPI\HPQ8001 device needing the driver.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver.
Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.
That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp66562.
Make sure the Include subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.
If it does, restart the PC.

i have downloaded the above mentioned version and tried before ( i got this link from hp community other links). But all those attempts were not successful.
Anyway i justed tried it again now. Installed the driver by manually selecting the .inf file and no improvements. Then i just uninstalled the all device driver and rebooted.
voila everything is working with windows default 2006 version driver.
im happy that the keyboard back to normal, but if you ask me how did i do it? I was doing the samething since last 1 week, but now its working with windows default driver.
Thank you for your quick assistance.
Will update you the status later.

No error messages. Randomly sticky keys dialog box opens asking do you want sticky keys turn on or off ?
From that moment, shift key acts as enabled, making all numbers on keyboard unable to type. Letters change to capslocked.
I tried external USB keyboard and that also behaves same.
Opened onscreen keyboard, it won't show shift is enabled. But if I try typing numbers using onscreen keyboard, even then symbols are available other than numbers 1 - 0. Also letters acts like capslocked since it shift enabled.

I tried Ubuntu live cd to check if it's hardware issue, then keyboard was working fine. Only problem I faced was HP hotkeys were not available. ie. special function media control keys, screen brightness keys were unavailable. But basic keyboard function was there.

VERSION: 5.0.27.1
Here is the patch:
Download the patch, install it -- if the patch is already installed, it will let you know and you can abort it.
