My PC 17-ck1000 has a NVME and a SATA slot is there a second NVME slot? I upgraded the 500gb platter drive to a 1tb SSD and the primary to a crucial P3 500gb PCIe GEN 3. I didn't look to see if there was a slot for a second NVME though. I was thinking of adding the original back in as storage just for game files. I've read that my board may or may not support 2 NVME drives due to having the SSD SATA in it. It came with a SATA platter drive.

The s/n you provided indicates that your notebook's model number is 17-w220nr.
The service manual (on page 2) states that your model supports the dual storage (2.5" hard drive + M.2 SATA/NVMe SSD).

The illustration on page 34 shows the hard drive located on the bottom right corner and M.2 SSD on the bottom left corner.
Parts list for your model indicates it came with a 2.5" hard drive and a 128 GB M.2 SATA SSD.
Knowing your correct model number now, I have to alter my original answer to your question: your model has one M.2 slot.
Your new M.2 NVMe drive runs much faster than the stock M.2 SATA drive, and you should notice a significant performance gain.

HP only provides older service manual for 17-ck0000 series that come with Intel Core 11th gen 'H' series processors and two M.2 slots for NVMe SSDs.
Your notebook has an Intel Core 12th gen processor so it should have two M.2 slots with the primary slot being gen4 ( not sure if the secondary slot is gen4 or gen3). See the note on page 35 of the manual that reads " NOTE: Solid-state drive (1) can house up to a Gen4 solid-state drive. Solid-state drive (2) can house up to a Gen3 solid state drive."
Most likely, the factory-installed M.2 NVMe SSD that you removed is a gen4 drive. You can possibly put the drive back in the primary slot and install a new NVMe SSD in the secondary slot for data storage. That is just an option.

Is your model an Omen17-ck1xxx? The manual makes no mention of support for a "platter drive." If you upgraded a SATA drive, perhaps, I'm talking about a wrong model!

I bought this used at a pawn shop and when I opened it to install more ram, I saw a SATA platter drive. It is positioned near the front of the unit and on one died. I did see a second NVME slot across from the primary one like some pictures show. The serial is 5CD7454WPJ if that helps. I downloaded the service manual in order to dissassemble it safely. I don't know if the platter was factory installed. I have an EVO 980 SSD in there now. I'm going to look at it this weekend and get back to you. Thanks for the reply,
