Hello there!
I need to replace an internal dvd driver of an HP Pavilion - 15-ab036nl (ENERGY STAR), product number N1K24EA.
Unfortunately I can't measure the thinkness of the drive, since it's a notebook owned by a friend.
I saw that basically that on the market exist two version : the 12.7 version and 9,5 .
Which should I buy for this notebook?
Thank you very much in advance, since I can't find this info on Hp website.

According to this page...
https://support.hp.com/sk-en/document/c04738922
...that model has a 1TB SATA drive. If that's the drive you're planning to replace, they should all have the same standard thickness of around 0.37 inches.
It sounds like what you actually need to know is what size caddy the hard drive fits in, as those typically run from 12.7 or 9.5mm sizes. If the laptop already has the caddy inside it, I would assume any standard SATA drive would fit within that caddy.

My mistake. I misread your original post and thought you said Hard Drive instead of DVD drive.
I haven't been able to find the size for you, but I did find the replacement here (they have it in both black and silver, so I guess the laptop came in two different styles):

Maybe you can figure it out from that. I took a good look at the image of the drive, but couldn't find any clue from that.
