I have an HP envy dv6 with cpu i7 3630QM 2.4GHz, 8 Gb RAM, MSATA SUV500MS / 480G, HD ST9500325AS 500Gb, SO WIN8.1, I SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED THE SO ON THE MSATA BUT AT START UP I HAVE THE POSSIBILITY TO CHOOSE WHICH VOLUME TO OPEN TO START THE OS, ON THE HDD OR ON THE MSATA.
IF I TRY TO REMOVE THE HDD THE SYSTEM NO LONGER STARTS.
WHAT CAN I DO?
MY HDD HAS DAMAGED SECTORS AND I HAVE TO REMOVE IT

Welcome to HP Community
I have gone through your Post and would like to help
May I know how are you reinstalling the Windows? As you booting up from the Recovery Media to install the OS on the mSATA?
I suggest you remove the Hard drive first and then try reinstalling the OS on the mSaATA drive
Keep me posted
