@jose_a_45

My latest work was to upgrade my 11 years old machine from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and keep all users files/programs/data on July 21, 2021

I used ISO file from the following source

              https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

then mount ISO file as DVD drive and run Setup from there. You can keep existing your files and programs if you wish.

After that, I ran few Windows updates and voilà. Only one hiccup: no driver for the Broadcom finger print reader .

 Regards.

Thanks a lot for your reply Banhien,

I had it easier because I had another newer HP already on W10... but I wanted to save my 8yr old EliteBOOK as good working spare.... For anyone interested it is an Elite BOOK, 840 G3, - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6500U CPU @ 2.50GHz 2.59 GHz PROCESSOR,   8.00 GB RAM,  Toshiba 449GB HD

I completely cleaned up this machine and did quite a few MS and HP SW/Updates as recommended on their support pages...
Since I already had all my Doc's / Pic's / music files on the newer HP-ProBOOK machine, i just used an external USB CD drive to transfer my user files back into the Elite Book AFTER downloading the W-10 OS....

Th3is downloading and installation worked smoothly without ANY hiccups!!

thansk a lot and hope this expereince is usefull to somen else,,,  / Regatrds,, / JAC
