Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

my notebook 250 G5 has Windows 10 and has developed some issues a couple of days ago.

The problem is that my external keyboard and mouse (both connected via USB ports) do not work anymore, so I need to use the touchpad and laptop keyboard all the time (not my favorite).

I tried the following things but none worked:

- uploaded some 2017 drivers listed on the HP website

- checked starting computer while pressing F2: the external mouse works then ! But I could not do any changes

- full system virus check (Norton AV)

What does work is my HP Envy printer, but this is connected with bluetooth.

I don't think the USB ports are defect as I hear a short tone every time I plug and unplug keyboard and mouse...

Is there a solution ? Otherwise, am tempted to buy bluetooth connected keyboard and mouse, but don't want to end up with same problem then..

Cheers,

Frank

Use the Hp PC Hardware Diagnostic utility that is available at startup by tapping the F2 key.

Enter component tests and test the USB ports.

Hi,

tried your suggestions but, I get message that all 3 USB ports are working (I can even use my external mouse when doing the test)... .

Seems like another forummember has same problem with external USB mouse.

My guess it is related to Windows 10 upgrades, but I am not an expert 🙂

Thanks for any other suggestions

I would reinstall the chipset drivers and then the USB 3.0/3.1 driver software.

Windows 10 updates have been the bane of us all lately.

Hi, ok, will try to reinstall usb drivers but where do I find these ?

best regards,

Just reinstall the appropriate chipset driver software. The USB drivers are included.

I have the same kind of issue... suddenly external mouse not working anymore.  Executed the same procedures as the people in the earlier posts,  tried with wired and unwired usb mouses..

I am working on Windows 10 Prof. Edition,  on an Elitebook X360 G2 1030.

Hi all,

was out shortly but managed a fix : I deleted a recent windows 10 upgrade (took a bit of time...), but after that, my extrna mouse works again. However, the external keyboard is still not working, and I keep getting reminders for windows 10 upgrades...

Cheers,

F
