Dear HP Team,

I own an HP Victus Gaming Laptop 15-fa0031dx
The laptop failed and does not power on. This was serviced once for defective keys and trackpad.

After researching online, I found many other Victus 15-fa0031dx users reporting the same motherboard issue.  And some within this community. This would suggest a widespread product defect.

I kindly request HP to escalate this case for a "Warranty Exception / Goodwill Repair (Quality Out-of-Warranty Exception)".

This failure happened with normal use, while my son was playing a game.

Since multiple customers are facing the same issue, I think HP should take responsibility and cover this repair.

I would be grateful if you could guide me on how to escalate this request to the appropriate team for approval.

Thank you,

Hi @PippoC

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that your HP Victus Gaming Laptop 15-fa0031dx does not power on. Since the notebook was previously serviced for keyboard and trackpad issues, please follow the steps below to help isolate the current problem:

1. Verify the AC Adapter

  • Ensure you are using the original HP charger that came with the notebook.
  • Connect the charger directly to a wall outlet.
  • Check whether the charging LED near the power port turns on.

2. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Disconnect the AC adapter and all external devices.
  • Press and hold the Power button for 15–20 seconds.
  • Reconnect only the AC adapter.
  • Press the Power button once to check if the notebook powers on.

3. Check for Signs of Power

When pressing the Power button, observe whether:

  • The charging LED changes color.
  • The Power button LED turns on.
  • The Caps Lock key blinks.
  • The cooling fan spins.
  • You hear any beep codes.

4. Attempt to Access the Startup Menu

  • Press the Power button.
  • Immediately tap the Esc key repeatedly.
  • If the Startup Menu appears, press F2 to run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Run the Extensive Test.
  • share the results.

5. Test with an External Display

  • Connect the notebook to an external monitor or TV using HDMI.
  • Press the Windows + P keys (if the notebook appears to power on) to switch display modes.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
