Hi @Abdullahac,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing the fan speed issue after a BIOS update can sometimes be due to how the BIOS update changes the fan curve or the temperature thresholds at which fans operate.
Here are some steps you can try to potentially resolve this issue:
Reset BIOS Settings:
- Enter BIOS by pressing Esc or F10 (or another specified key) while your laptop boots.
- Look for an option to “Load Setup Defaults” or “Restore Default Settings.” This can often restore the fan curve settings to default behavior.
- Save changes and exit BIOS.
Check Power Settings in Windows:
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options.
- Select High Performance or Balanced as your power plan and check for any fan or cooling settings.
- For more control, click Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings, then look for Processor power management and System cooling policy. Ensure it’s set to Active rather than Passive to maintain higher fan speeds under load.
HP Command Center or Omen Gaming Hub:
- If your HP Pavilion supports HP Command Center or Omen Gaming Hub, open the app and navigate to the Thermal or Performance sections.
- Set the fan profile to Performance Mode or any high-performance option if available.
Consider Downgrading the BIOS:
- Sometimes, new BIOS updates introduce bugs. If the previous BIOS version provided better fan control, consider downgrading.
- To do this, visit the HP Support website, download the previous BIOS version, and follow the instructions to install it carefully.
Update or Reinstall HP CoolSense (if applicable):
- Some HP laptops come with HP CoolSense software, which manages fan performance. If you have it installed, ensure it’s up-to-date, or try reinstalling it from the HP website.
Clean the air vents -
Dust and debris can accumulate in and around the air vents over time, obstructing the airflow and causing the fans to work harder than normal to remove the heat.
- Turn off the computer.
- Remove any objects near the computer.
- Use a vacuum to remove the dust from the vents underneath and on the sides of the computer.
- Turn the computer on, and then place it on a hard, level surface, such as a desk or table.
