Hi @john13481,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
It sounds like your HP laptop's keyboard has been locked after entering an incorrect password multiple times. This could be due to a security feature to prevent unauthorized access. Here are some questions and troubleshooting steps to help unlock your keyboard:
- Did you encounter any specific error messages or prompts after entering the incorrect password multiple times?
- Have you tried using an external keyboard to see if it works or if the issue is limited to the internal keyboard?
- Is your laptop asking for a PIN, password, or using another authentication method (e.g., fingerprint) after the failed attempts?
Try the steps below.
- Wait for a reset period: Sometimes, after several incorrect attempts, a laptop will temporarily lock the keyboard for a period of time. Wait for 15-30 minutes and then try again.
- Restart the laptop: If you haven't already, try restarting the laptop. In some cases, this can reset temporary locks or glitches.
- Use an external keyboard: If your internal keyboard is locked, you can connect an external keyboard via USB or Bluetooth to type in the password.
- Boot into Safe Mode: If you're unable to unlock the laptop normally, try booting into Safe Mode by restarting the laptop and pressing F8 (or Shift + F8) during startup. Safe Mode might bypass any keyboard locks and allow you to troubleshoot further.
- Reset the password or PIN (if applicable): If you're still unable to unlock the laptop, you may need to reset your password or PIN using your Microsoft account (if linked) or through the recovery options available on your device.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
