i just got this hp probook 6465b laptop. i have 2 fingerprint sensors from ebay. one works on my 6570b laptop one will not, but neither will work on my 6465b laptop or my 6460b laptop. on the 6465b i went and got the synaptic driver for the fingerprint sensor and the laptop did not see it yet in the drivers with the driver and the sensor both installed.
so will these 2 laptops be able to use fingerprint scanners? if so what steps do i need to do so i can get these to work.
according the hp 1 of them has the part number the other one does not but they both look the same and plug into the same port.
i did ask this earlier but might be in the wrong section. i have read that these laptop can work with the fp sensor so it would be good to get mine to work. they both have win10 on them. thanks

You need a right part, which is
Fingerprint reader board (includes cable) part # 642764-001

Hi, @corvairbob
You need to manually install this driver for the model fingerprint sensor your notebook has...
Download and run the driver. It will most likely not install the fingerprint sensor.
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58501-59000/sp58900.exe
If the fingerprint sensor has been recognized in the device manager there will be an Unknown Device listed with a hardware ID that begins with USB\VID138A.
Click on the unknown device with that hardware ID. Click on the driver tab. Click on Update driver.
Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.
That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp58900.
Make sure the Include subfolders box is checked and the driver will install.
Then to use the fingerprint reader, you need to install this W10 Client Security software...
